What Are 8-Hole Double Nozzles?

An eight-hole double nozzle is a laser-cutting tip with an inner and an outer layer. The center bore directs the central gas jet and the laser. The outer layer has eight carefully calibrated holes that create a gas curtain during laser cutting. This gas curtain cools the laser head, reduces turbulence, ejects dross and protects the lens, creating high cut quality and efficiency. 

For laser systems used to cut steel, especially carbon and mild steel, eight-hole double nozzles help control gas flow, preventing debris, minimizing thermal damage or oxidation and supporting clean edges. When properly calibrated and selected for gas requirements and material thickness, they can also protect your system from heat damage. 

When to Replace Your Nozzles

• Holes get warped: When nozzle holes get elongated, chipped or damaged, you may not get the gas curtain you need. 
• Debris builds up on the tip: Solidified molten metal on the tip usually means a replacement is in order.
